Base metal

This is a tool called a daigane (base metal) used in shoemaking and repair. Made in the United States, it is made entirely of iron, including the base. It appears to have originally been painted black, but the paint has almost completely worn off. There was also some rust, but this was roughly removed and then treated with a rust inhibitor.

You can display it as is, or use it as a hat stand or to display accessories, and since it weighs about 1.6 kg, you can also use it to hold something down.
