Tobacco shop jar with lid

This is a long, thin glass bottle that was mainly used in tobacco shops. It is an old pre-war item with a very distinctive metal lid.

The glass is thick and weighs about 3kg, making it quite heavy. There are bubbles and ripples in the glass, and there are scratches and chips in the plaster that hold the lid in place due to years of use, but it is in fairly good condition for this type of bottle.

You can use it to display dried goods or small items, to store illumination lights, as a small item holder, or to store bagged snacks or seasonings. If you are storing food, it is a good idea to put a desiccant inside.
