Many vintage American mason jars, regardless of manufacturer, come with metal lids called zinc caps. These zinc caps were made by several manufacturers, including Ball and Atlas, and were produced for a long time due to their high reliability. However, because they did not provide a very good seal compared to modern lids, these rubber rings (rubber gaskets) were sold separately.

It's easy to use; just stretch the loop and place it over the mouth of the mason jar. It's a little tight, but you can stretch it as much as you like.

As this is an unused deadstock item, it is in very good condition. There are no cracks, hardening, or damage due to use, but please note that there may be small rubber residue or whitish areas.

The size is for a regular mouth, so it can be used with mason jars other than those made by Ball, as long as they are a regular mouth. Wire-type mason jars can also be used as long as they are the same size as a regular mouth. For example, Ball's Ideal series and Atlas's EZ Seal series are OK. If you are unsure of the size, please feel free to ask.

In the case of zinc caps, attaching a rubber gasket will significantly improve the airtightness, so we recommend trying it if you are using it to store food such as pickles, jam, coffee beans, sweets, etc.
