Ball has been making food storage jars since its founding in 1884. In that long history, the only jars made for freezers are the Freezer series jars.
It's 24 ounces in size, with a capacity of about 580ml just short of the brim. Even though it's designed for the freezer, it doesn't actually have any special mechanisms, and it's made of the same glass as other jars. However, it does have an intricately designed Ball logo, which gives it a playful feel.
The Freezer series is a rare model, produced for only a short period from 1946 to 1956. This particular example is from that period, produced from 1946 to 1952. It is in generally good condition with minimal scratches. The lid comes with a zinc cap exclusive to the Freezer series, and although the surface has been polished, some scratches, stains, and dents can be seen. Please note that most of the original rubber lining has worn off.
Because the lid is made of metal, it is not suitable for storing liquids, but it is perfectly usable for storing tea leaves, coffee beans, seasonings, and snacks. The wide mouth opening makes it easy to clean the inside. If the lid is wide mouth size, it can be replaced with the current product lid.
