adequate (adakuwatta) a pig made from rags

We asked adequate, a company that combines a unique sense and humor with solid techniques to create unique products, to dismantle Japanese rags that were used as bedsheets and create a stuffed pig.

The rags used were ones that had been in use from the Edo period through the Meiji period, and possibly even later, and had become quite thick as they had been repeatedly re-layered with cloth each time they were torn.

The body is made entirely from the original fabric of the rags, but the eyes are buttons made from vintage leather, and the tail is made from horse leather.

The way the fabric is cut and combined, and the balance of the sashiko are all areas where adequate's sense and hard work are condensed, but their attention to detail, even in areas that are not obvious at first glance, such as slightly dyeing the thread used for sashiko, is also typical of adequate.

This time, we have been asked to create a total of five rag pigs, and of course each one has a different expression, so it is impossible to create two that are exactly the same. We hope you will take the time to look at each one carefully.
