This American-made wooden box doubles as a shoe shine stand and storage space. It has a metal shoe rack attached to the top, and chains on both sides of the lid. There are no fasteners to secure the lid, so you need to hold it by the bottom when lifting it.
I heard it's from the 1980s, but I think it might have been a shoe shine box or something like that. 5 cents for a shoe shine was something that happened before World War II.
Please note that there are some areas where the wood has peeled off at the edges and some darkening remains inside. The last photo shows a postcard inside. The width is just right, but the head sticks out a little.
