This is a red fabric roll sign that was used on New York's Green Line buses. Buses now have electronic displays, just like in Japan, but in the past, they had a roll of letters that would spin around. This is not a destination sign, but a roll used for a special sign attached to the driver's side. The information written on it is as follows:

The width and height of the letters are uniform, and the width, thickness, and spacing of the letters are adjusted depending on the number of characters, but this typesetting is what you might call the most attractive feature of the roll sign.It is a very impressive typesetting that is not monotonous, and what is fascinating is that it was not designed as a poster or anything like that, but was made for the purpose of displaying bus destinations.
In recent years, cheap replica roll signs have been sold that even reproduce the damage, but this is a one-of-a-kind vintage sign that was actually used. The lettering and the white part on the back are slightly discolored, and there are wrinkles and darkening, but it does not look dirty, and you can enjoy the unique texture of a vintage sign that has actually been used.
It goes surprisingly well with rooms with an American feel, as well as simple, unadorned rooms. Please note that it is in its original condition and does not come with a hanging string.
