This is a roll sign that was once used on buses running in Queens, New York. Buses today have electronic displays, just like in Japan, but in the past, destinations were printed on a roll that would spin around. This roll sign was made by Hunter Illuminated Car Sign Company, which was known at the time for making bus and subway signs. The destinations listed are as follows:

119th & 9th
65th & Fresh Meadow
32nd Avenue
165th St. Terminal
BRONX
WEST FARMS SQ.
LAGUARDIA AIRPORT
FLUSHING SUB.
BORO HALL 6TH & 8TH AVE. SUBWAY
MT. HEBRON CEMETERY
HORACE HARDING BLV.
ZOOLOGICAL GARDENS

The width and height of each character is roughly uniform, and the width and spacing between characters are adjusted, but this typesetting is what makes the roll sign the most interesting feature. It is not too monotonous, and there is just the right amount of space between characters, making it a very impressive typesetting, but what is interesting is that it was not designed as a poster or anything like that, but was made for the purpose of displaying bus destinations.

In recent years, cheap replica roll signs have been sold that even reproduce the damage, but this is a one-of-a-kind vintage sign that was actually used. The lettering and the white part on the back are slightly discolored, and there are wrinkles and darkening, but it does not look dirty, and you can enjoy the unique texture of a vintage sign that has actually been used.

It goes surprisingly well with rooms with an American feel, as well as simple, unadorned rooms. Please note that it is in its original condition and does not come with a hanging string.
