We have uploaded four lantern plates that were painted by placing a stencil on them and spraying ink in a mist.
The lantern plate is placed inside the lantern and used to catch oil dripping from the oil dish. However, none of the plates shown here show any heavy oil stains, so they may have been used as tableware.
These pieces date from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period, so they have some damage, but the patterns on the stencils are still quite appealing, so please take a look at each one.
