Paper helmet and Otomi embroidery

Please note that we will be closed on August 18th and 21st this week, and will close at 3pm on August 23rd.

Today we are uploading a paper helmet from wartime when supplies were scarce, and colorful embroidered cloth from the Otomi people of Mexico.

Paper Helmet

This helmet was made during the war from a paper material. It is made of specially processed hard paper, similar to a botet box, so it does not easily dent when pressed, but it is a valuable item from an era when metal was not widely used.

The color is olive green, but the paint has peeled off in places, revealing the underlying burgundy.

Otomi embroidery

Otomi embroidery gained popularity when the Otomi people, who made their living from agriculture, began selling embroidered fabric in towns in the 1960s after a drought cut off their income. The fabric features bold designs and vibrant colors.
