Katakuchi and mortar

It was fun to see so many customers today for the first time in a while. This month we have a variety of items in stock, from furniture to accessories, so please stop by while you're strolling around downtown. We will be open over the three-day weekend, but will be closed on Tuesday, September 24th and Wednesday, September 25th.

Today I'd like to introduce three pots.

Yellow glazed sake cup
This is a beautiful yellow glazed katakuchi (sake cup). Its diameter is about 17cm, which is about the size of a small rice bowl. It can be used for a wide variety of dishes, such as simmered dishes, boiled vegetables, and salads.

Controlled pottery mortar
I thought it had a strangely dull color, so I turned it over and found a control number. It's a controlled ceramic mortar fired during World War II. It's really nice. It's not pure white, but a grayish mortar.

Large mortar
This set includes an extra-large mortar with a diameter of 26cm and a pestle that is 35cm long. I've never seen such a huge mortar, and the wooden handle of the pestle is also rare.
