The time I spend looking after the things I've bought, researching, and taking photos is bliss. I've been buying things at the market lately, and thankfully I've been able to come across some really interesting things. I think this is the best time this year in terms of both quantity and content. I'll give you a quick rundown of the things I've prepared photos of.
Last year and this year, we received some very rare bicycles for purchase, including this very rare Swedish military bicycle. The tires and chain need replacing, so we are currently waiting for a buyer who values originality. However, if we are unable to sell it, we plan to repair and replace it until it is at least rideable.
We have purchased a glass display case that is typical of antique shops. It is unusually small, measuring 79cm wide, 39cm deep, and 92.5cm high, making it suitable for use in shops as well as private homes.
Ammonite and fish fossils. Antiques from 500 and 1000 years ago are like baby's.
This lighting magnifier has a magnifying glass and fluorescent light set inside the disc. It has a shiny metallic finish and does not appear to be very old, but it is in good practical condition.
A US military trunk. The stencil in the photo is actually on the bottom, and the front is simple.
These are lights that were attached to bicycles before the war. They are candle-powered or old-fashioned battery-powered, but we had them fitted with sockets and cords so they could be used with an outlet.
Small tools for repairing watches.
Two types of laundry baskets, one old and one new. Both have been cleaned and are in good working condition.
Three issues of Ginza Hyakuten, a Ginza town magazine that has been published since its launch in 1955. The cover features Shigejiro Sano.
Five volumes of Hakuhodo newspaper advertisements from 1952 to 1953. They're very interesting.
This is not just an oil lamp, but an Aladdin mantle oil lamp, model 23. It is probably made of nickel, and we will investigate its age later.
Clear glass marine lights, instead of red or green, are rare. They come pre-wired, so all you need to do is insert the bulb and you're ready to go.
Metal shoe lasts. As an object.
These lacquer boards were used to dry lacquerware. The damage varies greatly, but the ones we have in stock this time have a great charm.
A thick wooden board used in bookbinding. The photo shows one with pieces of wood fitted into it, but we also have another plain thick board in stock.
Rubber tetrapods
There are still many things I would like to introduce, but for now, I will stop here. I will continue to take photos and upload them to the online store. If you are in the area, please come and visit us in store.
