I recently bought a safe. It was a steel safe, probably from the mid-Showa era. It wasn't in bad condition, but there was some rust and the paint was peeling, so I decided to strip it off. Here it is.

The linear pattern at the top of the door is a scratch that was originally on top of the paint. It was probably caused by something hitting the door when it was opened. I have no idea how the other patterns got there, but I think it's very interesting.
I could have used a grinder to make it shiny, but that would have erased the patterns that were visible on the metal surface, so I left the parts other than the rust alone and just removed the paint with a scrubbing pad and detergent.
There are two shelves, which can be positioned as desired. The depth is just enough to fit records. The rotating lock is a bit difficult to open, so I inserted a piece of wood to keep it from turning.
The color is a dark gray that gives off a gunmetal vibe. While using it for storage, I hope you will also enjoy the pattern of the steel that has developed under the paint over the years.
